- Overview
Research and Innovation (R&I) is an integral part of activities at Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos. Together with the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University, among other academic partners, researchers and clinician-scientists at Santaros klinikos actively participate in biomedical studies and clinical trials aimed at improving disease diagnostics, prevention and treatment.
Over the years, Santaros Klinikos has become a hub for R&I initiatives across most major medical fields. A high patient and data flow, advanced medical and IT infrastructure has helped many creative researchers at Santaros Klinikos to advance their field of interest through academia-initiated studies, large-scale clinical trials, multicentre initiatives and experimental studies. Most projects at Santaros Klinikos are funded by the Research Council of Lithuania, the Innovation Agency of Lithuania, European Union programs or, in the case of clinical trials, various private entities.
Beyond novel data and clinical evidence that improves future care pathways, many patients treated at Santaros Klinikos for complex and rare conditions have already benefited from the unique opportunity to participate in trials implementing advanced breakthrough therapies and medical devices.
The Innovation and Technology Transfer Office at Santaros Klinikos helps researchers design and implement R&I initiatives, promotes international collaborations and cooperation with business, supports the commercialization of R&I results.
