Features

The Competence Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Cancer Surgery is one of the largest centers in the Baltic States which diagnoses about 50 cases of childhood cancer each year, and performs about 60 surgeries on children with oncological disease.  Our center is the leader in the Baltic States in terms of the number of hematopoietic stem cell transplants performed: from 2002 to 2020, 256 transplants were performed in 247 children, including 29 Latvian citizens. Our center has developed a unique monitoring system that collects data on newly diagnosed cases, tracks the course of the disease, and evaluates the effectiveness of treatment. It contains data on more than 2,000 individuals who have been monitored since 1981. This data is constantly analyzed and updated.

Since 2017 CC for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Cancer Surgery has become a member of the European Reference Network for Pediatric Oncology - ERN PaedCan. The network brings together the best treatment facilities to help children with cancer. More information about the network can be found on the ERN PaedCan website.
