Project for the Reduction of Cardiovascular Diseases Related Mortality and Morbidity in the Eastern and South-eastern Regions of Lithuania (municipalities of Ignalina, Molėtai, Rokiškis, Šalčininkai, Širvintos, Švenčionys, Trakai, Utena, Varėna, Visaginas, Elektrėnai, Druskininkai) by Upgrading and Optimising the Infrastructure of the Health Care System and Medical Services Provided. Project participants are 40 health care institutions. Duration of the Project – 27 months (01-12-2004 – 28-02-2007). The main areas of project activities are: upgrading of technical facilities and implementation of new technologies, implementation of IT at health care institutions, upgrading of the infrastructure and optimisation of the structure of medical services provided seeking to equalize them in the region. Project objectives are: to upgrade the infrastructure of health care system in the Eastern and South-eastern regions of Lithuania, to reduce cardiovascular disease related morbidity and mortality in the populat on of the region, to extend the average lifespan and to improve the quality of life.
